The character
Dino Buzzati (1906 – 1972)
A Belluno-born writer and journalist with a passion for mountaineering and rock climbing, Dino Buzzati spent his summer vacations in the Dolomites since his childhood, frequenting in particular the Croda da Lago and the Pale di San Martino, of which he was very fond. Buzzati paid homage to these mountains, both majestic natural architectures and places of solitude and reflection, in works like The Desert of the Tartars, inspired by the Pale Plateau and its lunar landscape.
